Its fields involve creating algorithms and computer programs that analyze and learn from data to make decisions or predictions. AI seeks to design and build systems that can learn from data, understand natural language, make decisions, solve problems, and carry out other intelligence-based tasks. It is applied across many fields such as medicine, commerce, manufacturing, gaming, transportation, and education, and is considered one of the most transformative modern technologies shaping daily human life. In addition, AI can be classified into several subfields, such as machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, and computers. It is used in a wide range of applications, from virtual personal assistants and chatbots to self-driving cars and medical diagnostic systems.

Despite the promising future of artificial intelligence and its expanding horizons – marked by a notable scientific revolution and continuous technological advancement – this technology also presents risks and challenges that may hinder the growth of the industry. These include ethical and social harms, such as digital forgery and privacy violations. With advanced technologies enabling visual expression, highly realistic fake images and videos can be created, potentially distorting facts and increasing public skepticism toward events and individuals. Moreover, these technologies raise ethical concerns about the proper use of technology and intellectual property rights, as they can be used in unethical or illegal ways that contribute to the spread of misinformation and deepen social divisions. Ultimately, the regulation and responsible use of these technologies is essentials to maintain media integrity and protect the rights of individuals and communities from the potential harms of digital deception. (Jassim, S, 2021)

In this research, we focus on one of the recurring errors made by most artificial intelligence image generation platforms, specifically when prompted to create images that include containing human fingers. The reason lies in the step-based nature of machine learning processes when responding to user commands, a mechanism that wil be examined in detail to clarify the sources of such errors and their possible future implications. The study also exposes whether these inaccuracies stem from programming limitations, user-related factors, or if they represent an emergent perspective of AI itself – a vision beginning to take form, with its earliest signs perhaps found in how it renders human fingers as this paper demonstrates.

Mohamed Abdelaziz Awad Allah Copyright (c) 2025 مجلة الفنون الاردنية جامعة اليرموك https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/566 Thu, 10 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0300 Proposal for Implementing Escape Room as an Innovative tool in teaching arts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/567
The study aims to explore the concept of the Educational Escape Room (EER), and to highlight its effectiveness in the field of art education. It also seeks to present proposal for applying ER as an innovative educational tool in the context of art education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve these goals, the descriptive-analytical approach is used. The study reviewed the previous literature that addressed the concept of the EER and clarified its key components. Additionally, it analyzed three empirical studies that explored escape rooms as innovative tools in art education. Based on these findings, a tailored proposal was developed for integrating escape room games into art education in Saudi Arabia. The study concluded that the escape room has proven effective as an innovative educational tool and can be applied across various disciplines including mathematics, science, and the arts. The findings support the feasibility of designing escape rooms inspired by the Saudi national curriculum, with potential implementation in Saudi museums to offer engaging and interactive learning experiences for visitors.

Mona Hamad Al-Ashiwan , Abeer Saad Almogren Copyright (c) 2025 مجلة الفنون الاردنية جامعة اليرموك https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/567 Thu, 10 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0300 The magical and fantastical trend in cinema: The Lady of the Sea as a Case Study https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/568
The magical is a distinctive feature in certain cinematic works that approach lived reality from a perspective that diverges from the traditional realist film, which typically emphasizes rationality and factual representation. Grounded in the idea that what transcends the familiar engages the viewer’s mind in a liminal space between doubt and certainty, the magical becomes a potent mode for expressing the condition of the contemporary human being whose existential and non-existential concerns have become deeply entangled due to the complex transformations of the modern world. These transformations have called for a reorientation of artistic tools to better reflect the spirit of the age and the sensibilities of individuals disillusioned with traditional norms and inadequate representational frameworks. The study focuses on the film The Lady of the Sea, aiming to explore the features of the magical in the film and assess their impact on its narrative structure, character development, cinematic imagery, and accompanying effects. The study concludes that the magical allows cinema to open up new modes of presentation and reception, contributing to a shifting understanding of the cinematic experience.

Mona shadad Almaliki Copyright (c) 2025 مجلة الفنون الاردنية جامعة اليرموك https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/568 Mon, 30 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0300 A proposed program for developing drtistic appreciation and criticism based on Lewis Lankford’s critical reading approach https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/569
Artistic appreciation and criticism are essential for understanding the implicit meanings and symbolic connotations of artworks. With the recent developments in the fields of arts and methods of presenting them to the audience, individuals often find themselves unable to enjoy the aesthetic dimensions of art due to their inability to analyze its components and grasp its intended message or concept. Accordingly, this study seeks to explore the possibility of designing a proposed program to develop artistic appreciation and criticism based on Lewis Lankford’s critical reading approach. The study aims to clarify the concepts of artistic appreciation and criticism, and to examine Lankford’s reading as a foundation for preparing a program that fosters these skills. The study uses a descriptive-analytical methodology. It concluded that learning artistic appreciation and criticism is significant in understanding their interrelation, as both contribute to clarifying artistics concepts and enahancing visual taste. Moreover, the study found a dynamic relationship between critical reading and the development of appreciation and criticism, and it supports the construction of a program grounded in critical readings to promote these competencies.

shatha brahim Al asqha Copyright (c) 2025 مجلة الفنون الاردنية جامعة اليرموك https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/569 Thu, 10 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0300 Visual Pareidolia and The Power of Color in Abstract Painting https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/570
This study explores the concept of pareidolia and its relationship to schools of fine art, examining how it can offer new interpretations and meanings to art in general and abstract art in particular. The human brain tends to recognize patterns and forms based on prior cognitive and imaginative experiences. The research focuses on the role of pareidolia in abstract art, highlighting artworks that incorporate this concept, and examining the role of color in shaping the perception of meanings, symbols, and forms within the abstract painting.

The present study employs a descriptive-analytical methodology. The research population consists of a selection of international fine artworks executed in the abstract style and incorporating the phenomenon of pareidolia. The study sample includes three artworks by prominent international artists whose work demonstrates this phenomenon. To achieve the study’s objective, the analysis relied on indicators derived from the theoretical framework, which served as criteria for analyzing the selected artworks. The analysis was conducted through a general descriptive approach that included detailed information about each artwork, formal artistic analysis, and content analysis.

The findings of the study clarify the relationship between the phenomenon of pareidolia and the abstract art movement, highlighting its contemplative function and its connection to the viewer’s psychological state. The study emphasizes the importance of considering the psychological experience of the audience in relation to pareidolia. Among the key recommendations is the promotion of the role of artistic movements, particularly abstraction, in translating psychological theories and phenomena through fine art. The study also recommends expanding projects in the arts, especially fine arts, to raise awareness about the integration of art with other fields of knowledge and science. Furthermore, it calls for increased research on phenomena similar to pareidolia and their impact on fine art movements, as well as translating research studies and theories that include methods and phenomena in psychology and their effect on audience perception.

Latifa Abdul Rahman Al Faisal Copyright (c) 2025 مجلة الفنون الاردنية جامعة اليرموك https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/570 Thu, 10 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0300 Reflections of the Gaza War in the Works of Visual Artists: An Analytical Reading https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/572
This study aims to explore the impact of the Gaza War on visual artworks and to document the artistic productions created during this period. It seeks to analyze the changes that emerged in these works, with a focus on the role of art in reinforcing national identity and collective memory during times of war. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology to examine twelve artworks, intentionally selected from a group of contemporary artists. The research problem lies in the scarcity of prior studies addressing the effects of the most recent Gaza War on visual art. Previous scholarship has generally focused on the broader relationship between war and art, without treating the October 2023 Gaza War as an independent subject of inquiry. The study finds that the war had a profound impact on visual artists, prompting them to express their suffering and pain through diverse artistic forms. Rather than depicting the war directly, many artists employed intellectual and creative strategies to deliver powerful messages through their work. The findings confirm that these artworks played a significant role in influencing viewers, addressing philosophical and intellectual themes in innovative ways, thereby raising awareness of the Palestinian cause and its imprint on collective memory. The significance of this study lies in its presentation of a new perspective on art as a form of cultural resistance and a means of preserving national identity during wartime. It also contributes to enriching the Arabic library and scholarly discourse in the fields of art and war studies, offering a deeper understanding of this lived experience and a valuable addition to both disciplines.

Mohammad Adnan Sobuh Copyright (c) 2025 مجلة الفنون الاردنية جامعة اليرموك https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/572 Thu, 10 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0300 Reviving Traditional Islamic Miniature Techniques in the Works of Contemporary Saudi Female Artists https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/573
This study aims to explore the experiences of Saudi female artists who have drawn on the traditional techniques of Islamic miniature art to produce contemporary artworks. The work was selected for its complexity and novelty in terms of melodic forms, overall structure, and tonal plan – features that are characteristic of Myaskovsky’s output and Russian-Soviet compositional experiments during the first two decades of the 20th century. The study uses a descriptive-analytical approach, integrating formal processual descriptions and systematic compositional analysis.

The research identifies an inventive combinatory complex of intricate thematic, tonal and gestural cycles of recurrences on various levels of the musical structure and form, which include a higher-level binary structure of “exposition/development” and “recapitulation/coda”, and an overall sonata form with a coda. It also identifies lower-level theme and variations cycles that include the main and secondary subjects, the Dies Irae theme, and cycles of recurring tonal relations. These structural levels lead to a reinterpretation of the underlying sonata form.

Iyad Mohammad Copyright (c) 2025 مجلة الفنون الاردنية جامعة اليرموك https://jja.yu.edu.jo/index.php/jja/article/view/574 Thu, 10 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0300
