The Omani Kuma: Identity and Aesthetic Value in Contemporary Art

This research highlights the aesthetic value of the Omani Kuma as a symbol of Omani identity, and as a source of inspiration for the Omani artist in contemporary art. Through the use of the descriptive analytical method, the research shows the most important artistic practices of Omani artists who used the Kuma in their practices. The results show the diversity of these practices that embodied the Omani Kuma as an aesthetic value in terms of form and content, and concluded that the Omani Kuma is one of the most important symbols of the Omani identity. Finally the research come up with a set of recommendations including conducting more artistic studies on the Omani Kuma as an aesthetic and expressive value in various fields of art such as drawing, photography, sculpture and printing.
