Abstract

Abstract

This research came to shed light on the concept of conservation and restoration of visual artworks in Jordan and its importance in preserving these artifacts, as there are thousands of artworks in Jordanian museums and when collectors are in dire need of the process of conservation and restoration in order to last for the largest possible period of time, and to continue performing Its artistic, cultural and civilizational message to the fullest.

The research included a definition of the concept of conservation and restoration, and what are its tools, scientific and technical processes and devices used in carrying out its operations, then the history and size of the Jordanian plastic heritage found in museums, art collectors and in churches, which is now in need of maintenance and restoration, Then the history of conservation and restoration in Jordan was reviewed, and a statement that there is a very limited number of people who do this on scientific grounds and according to international conventions and ethics   that organized the process of  conservation and restoration.

In the end, the research dealt with the conservation restoration of some of the visual artworks that were restored, whether through university research or through the researcher himself.
