Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the semantic interaction and aesthetic construction in the visual image in the comics of the "Saudi Caricature" by investigating the image semiotics and the effectiveness of rhetorical discourse in these comics. The researchers used a descriptive approach. This study takes two directions. The first is concerned with the semiotic importance of the visual image in storyboards and the iconic and symbolic representation in its composition. The other direction deals with the effectiveness of rhetorical discourse in the visual image of comics of "cartoon art", whose content tends to embody social phenomena, on contemporary Saudi society. Through analysis of theses caricature comic images, the results of the study showed their great impact on the current events in Saudi society. The results of the study also revealed that those drawings also bear many signs that symbolize the contents of Saudi life in various social, political, economic and cultural aspects.
