Abstract

Abstract

This research discusses one of the most popular folklore singing forms inherited from ancient times in Jordan and Levant area known as (Zareef Altool). The aim of this research is to identify this original singing through its’ Artistic and Poetic structures of this singing from, and then provide a definition of it as an original heritage genre.

This research tackled naming this form, its inherited sources, poetic structure, Rhythmic and metrical structur, scales, and Modes. It also tackled the subjects and themes of Zareef Altool songs through some examples and presented some of the famous singers.

The research ended with a number of results regarding the dialect and its style of Zareef Altool building in terms of form, and its melody, rhythm and performance. The research also presented some recommendations.
