Abstract

Abstract

This article investigates how aesthetic postmodernist discourse faced racism in the modernist aesthetic discourse. Itconsists of functioning three sections. The first one introduces the general concept of racism- its origin and development through history. The second section deals with the general framework of aesthetic. modernist discourse, and emphasis it laid on the Eurocentric binaries of identity, which in turn, led to making closed cultural structures that marginalized and excluded non-European identities. The third section focuses on the role of postmodernist thought in rejecting these modernist Eurocentric thought structures, deconstructing modernist binaries and boosting the contribution of the aesthetic postmodernist discourse in facing racism and rebuilding the marginalized political, cultural or gender-based identities. By encouraging openness, by bridity fragmentation, plurality and multiculturalism. The article concludes by investigating the critical, aesthetic and intellectual trends which overlapped with aesthetic postmodernist thought.
