Abstract

Abstract

The importance of Tajweed is linked with understanding and comprehending the language of the Holy Qur`an and transmitting its holy message.  Reciting the Qur`an depends on knowledge and rules. Recitation of the Holy Qur`an embodies the actual voice implementation of the reciter depending on the supra segmentals of the Qur'anic sound patterns in order to get to the semantic interpretation as a means of comprehending its meanings. Thus, the reciter experiences an intellectual challenge in comprehending the Qur`anic text, and he is made to feel responsible for conveying it`s meanings to his audience.

This is the core theme of this study that deals with the most prominent schools of recitation of the holy Qur`an in the Arab world. The study focuses on one of the most modern methods and its famous reciters (Mohamed Refat, Abdel-Fattah She'shaie, Mustafa Ismail, Mohammed Sidique Menshawi, Mahmoud Khalil Al-husary, and Abdul Basit Abdul Samad). The researcher chooses Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, as a model for the school and its methods. The choice was made due to his popularity, and his beautiful voice which fascinated Muslims across the world for half a century.

The study will discuss the role of music and drama represented by the relationship between intonation and tragedy in the expression of Qur'anic stories and their themes. The researcher also emphasizes the bond the literary expression displays, by nature, between the empathic excitement and the sound system and their profound influence on the audience. This is done through a historical review of the composition and consolidation of this bond, guided by the views of scholars, scientists of religious affairs and specialists in the science of Qur'anic recitation.

The study highlights the characteristics and specifications of Abdul Basit Abdul Samad`s reciting which has been characterized by heavy toning and rhythmic diversity, besides his high-taste in investing his acoustic abilities and voice aesthetics in the path of goodness and truth.

Then, the researcher analyzed two samples of recitation of  the Holy Qur'an, namely: Al-Fajr and Al –Takweer . the researcher believes he has achieved the  the goal of the study and  reached some conclusions. He also makes some  recommendations and suggestions related to the research topic
