Analyzing the Structural Frameworks –Composing" Bach Gigue from the Fourth Suite for Cello Solo
Abstract
This analytical study explores the distinctive frameworks of the binary form of ”The Gigue from the Fourth Suite for Cello – Solo” by Johannes Sebastian Bach, according to which many dances of suites and preludes and other pieces were composed, such as: “French suites”, “English suites”, “Partitas for Clavier”, “Preludes for Clavier”.
Through the concepts of “dynamics of melodic evolution” and “functional structure”, the study aimed at discovering methods of structural frameworks constituting binary form as a distinctive canon at the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th.
The study shows that the particularity and singularity of every structure depends on its' constituting components and their connecting methods according to the following canons:
• Different structures with different connecting canons
• Different structures with the common connecting canons
• Common Structures with different connecting canons
The analysis concluded 10 modulated structures through a mutual component and 5 without.
