Vision For The Design Of Contemporary Furniture Units Of The Jordanian Heritage

Abstract

Heritage preserves the traditions and customs of the people in the form of accumulated experience made by successive generations، Furniture is one of the important elements in our daily lives and through it the integration and harmony of the contemporary space is achieved. This requires the interior designer to pay attention to his cultural and popular heritage by designing furniture units that retain originality and identity، and his goal is to create a contemporary design vision to design furniture units inspired by the Jordanian heritage that express our national identity. Its aim is to create a vision to design contemporary furniture units from the Jordanian heritage that express our national identity، to develop an aesthetic sense of heritage identity، and the contemporary furniture pieces used in Jordan have become lacking the touch that expresses the identity of the Jordanian heritage. Which negatively affected the development of cultural awareness of the Jordanian heritage، and the research aims to design contemporary furniture units that express the Jordanian national identity، and to find a special character for Jordan in the design of furniture linked to the surrounding environment، Hence the importance of the research in analyzing the design vocabulary of the Jordanian heritage to deduce contemporary and innovative design lines to be employed in the design of contemporary furniture pieces; The researcher presented proposals for the design of furniture units that employed design lines inspired by the Jordanian heritage in a reductionist and simple style to suit contemporary life and achieve functional and aesthetic aspects in the design process. Thus، we extract a vision of the design style of heritage vocabulary in the design of contemporary furniture units through two main directions، first: the study of heritage vocabulary and analysis of its design lines، second: the study of the engineering design of furniture pieces to achieve functional and aesthetic standards.
