Abstract

The research compares expressionist texts with Shakespearean texts, The first section presents the research issue in the quastion:

What are the expressionist roots in Shakespearean texts?

This research is important for History of Drama Theory students. Its goal is to uncover the expressionist dramatic roots and its diversityin Shakespearean.

Section II included three topics:  Effects of Renaissance and its variantsmm and Romanticm, and The Shakespearean hero.

In section III (research procedures), Shakespeare's, Macbeth, Hamlet, King Lear, Tempest were identified as asample texts for the study. From expressionist texts, the sample was Emperor Jones, Gorilla, Calculator, Dream Girl.

The texts were analyzed within frames of Time, Hero perspective, Mask, and Ghost.

Section IV includes Conclusions. The Shakespearean hero has aperspective that is formed in the context of perspectives of the characters around the hero. This is confirmed by confusion and disintegration status in the perspective of expressionist hero.

The researcher suggests one recommendation, and concludes with a list of sources and references.
