Abstract

Abstract

This paper discusses the inscriptions of King Abdullah I Mosque which was built between1982 and 1989 at the heart of the Jordanian capital, Amman. The Arabic inscriptions applied inside and outside the mosque reflect skill and knowledge. Their texts reflect a powerful connection between the mosque and the other complexes around it, such as the House of Parliament, Ministry of Education and the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate. The clever selection of Qur'anic verses reflects the deep understanding of the strong connection between the mosque and it`s surroundings.
