Abstract

Abstract

Several authors sought to use the popular melodies in their Orchestral works, which is a part of the ideology of the school of Nationalism that attempts to highlight the aspects of the national styles. In world music, composers changed modes and scales as a kind of variation. These changes occurred within church Modes and Major, and Minor western scales; therefore, this approach was not criticized. On the other hand, Arab composers changed modes of the local popular songs, which resulted in great controversy caused by changing the three quarters tunes found in some of the Oriental modes. But this is a narrow-minded vision and unjustifiable viewpoint because the originality does not lie in these modes alone
