Proposed accompaniment for the xylophone for harmonies derived from Riad Al Sunbati's Longa

Abstract

The study aimes to identify the structural composition of Riad Al Sunbati's Longa and to propose accompaniment patterns for harmonies derived from it.

The study adopts a developmental methodology based on existing content and adding to it to produce more effective or modern results. The study sample consists of the musical notation of Riad Al Sunbati's Longa, the proposed accompaniment patterns, and the harmonies.

The study concludes that the structural composition of Riad's Longa contains four sections and a "Teslim" (a musical phrase that concludes each section), and proposes various patterns of harmonic accompaniment for the harmonies derived from the melodic line of Riad's Longa, such as accompaniment using arpeggios, accompaniment using a repetitive rhythmic pattern, and accompaniment using Alberti bass.

The study recommendes applying the proposed accompaniment patterns as a simultaneous action with playing the xylophone for Riad's Longa."
